The core of Metabolic is in fact existing way longer than only since 2013. The whole disaster started in 2005. Andy and Brian got the awkward idea to start a band when they were 13 years old. Both joined the middle school of Bischofswerda and were class mates. After all class mates had been disturbed with their dumb idea they started their first band together with Toni and called it BTA (for Brian Toni Andy). The YAMAHA keyboard played by Toni was the so called bass guitar replacement. 5th April 2006, the first bad practice took place in the old garage of Brian’s parents. A historical moment! To get anything like a know how they raped the good old hits of bands like The Ramones, AC/DC, Die Toten Hosen, Deep Purple etc. with more or less success. The first gig was at the open day of the middle school and the band became a fixed part of the program. At this point, the first hard journey began. Often they had to change their practice room, family parties they had to play on having to learn good old rock songs only for that didn’t let enough time for writing and practicing own songs. Anytime in 2008 or 2009 – we don’t know – two more or less usable songs were written: “Metalheads” and “Die letzte Runde” (a german song, in English: the last lap). 2009 – after exams. All of us chose a different direction but the band resisted. Toni and Andy joined the high school of Bautzen and met Bill, the later first bassist of us. Bill was also looking for a band, so he got invited to join a band practice. A few months later, Toni left the band having no more lust to do it. Bill got a member of the band and brought new ideas. On one side we tried harder stuff like Metallica or System of a Down, on the other side we started writing own metal songs. For that we needed a new name – ALYRIUM. That was a very awesome idea of Bill and he also designed the band logo. With tha line up we got the first “real” gigs like “Rock im Rathaus” (rock in the city hall) and “Car & Fun” in Bischofswerda in 2010. One year later we finally found a second guitarist: the Meltke. After a few messages giving some songs to learn he entered our practice room just saying “OEH”. Therefore we knew: this guy belongs to us! Together with him, new songs were practiced and gigs to the “Schiebocker Tage” (city festival of Bischofswerda) and “Bautzen liebt bunt” (a festival against fascism and racism) in 2011 were played. Unfortunately, those were the only big gigs at this time because every family member wants a gig of us at any family festival. 2013: after doing almost nothing for two years we stopped that. No family festivals anymore! To the last of them, Bill told us he wants to leave the band and we had no bassist at this time. At the same time Andy quit singing (and that was a pleasure for everyone). After long boringness a bit of happiness we found Floyd in a small ad at Thomann. He wanted to sing in our band. At this point he was successful as singer and guitarist with his band NEVERTRUST. He joined a band practice, listened to our songs and said “well, sounds alright. My bassist might like that”. He brought him to the next band practice, no one of them ran away and so we think they have no other change than being band members. A few months later, NEVERTRUST stopped and so we all started focusing on the new band. To have a little restart with the line-up and the style, we wanted a new name – METABOLIC. Bill designed this logo, too, which has been post edited by Sani (big thanks here!). Now Andy got the change to spend more song ideas and the first set was practiced very hard. The premier was on at the Schollheim in Sebnitz on 28th September 2013 – and we kicked their asses! We did the second place (the audience wanted us being first) and went home with a good feeling knowing to do it that way! The band was formed over the time, played great gigs with fantastic atmosphere and awesome audiences and played together with bands like Starless Aeon, Macbeth, Gorilla Monsoon, BitchHammer, Andabata, Korpus und Endstille. Floyd had a long vendor list by being 8 years on tour with his first band, so he made this possible. 2014 – hell yeah! A lot of people asked us of making some records, so we started it on March 2014. The recordings in our practicing room began. We also thought about merchandise and started with buttons in 3 designs as well as t-shirts and sweatshirts. The 30th May 2015: ERASER, our debut CD was brought to the people at the Safe Club in Kamenz. Since this time it has got a lot of good reviews. Meanwhile, our merchandise grew up to t-shirts, sweaters, stickers and patches. Having our CD with us we’ve travelled a lot of places and played so many gigs. We had a lot of experiences, were still writing songs, went lot of miles and still had a pleasant time. Sounding like an ending notice, it’s to give you some throwback feels to stay tuned for upcoming stuff we are going to do. 2017 will be kind of relaxing due to less gigs but way more than only drinking lots of beer in our practicing room. Stay tuned to this year’s achievements! When writing the paragraph before we had no idea about the past happenings of that year. We planned recording our second album as Brian told us to leave the band and only playing the remaining concerts due to private reasons. That was really bad, but plannable for us. Right after that another big thing happened: Floyd left the band either. There were some struggles between him and the band. You can imagine that we didn’t have the best mood being only three guitarists left. But we didn’t give up! We created advertisements, made flyer and infiltrated Facebook groups, all that pain to end up finding new members via relationships. During that time we found out that Venatoris was in the final stages. We had some prejudices but invited them to talk a bit. After beating all prejudices they killed the game with learning three songs in five days perfectly and we knew – it’s gonna be legendary! Now, october 2017: Metabolic is back! With Andy, Dassi, meltke, Balu and Hardy we have a line-up building a human and musically unit we have ever dreamt of. So we put off the dust of our shoulders and start again. Now we’re working hard on filling up our schedule and catching up on paused things, e.g. our second longplayer.
